The 10 second clip kicked off with Sharon Mitchell (played by Letitia Dean) leading the festive spirit as she said: “Good old knees-up at The Vic, that’s what Christmas is all about.
The teaser then cut to Mick (Danny Dyer) and Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) renewing their views in front of a packed Queen Vic.
As everyone jumped up and cheered, one character stood out as the camera zoomed into Phil Mitchell’s old cellmate Aidan Joseph Patrick Maguire (Patrick Bergin), better known as JP.
The villain looked very sinister despite being surrounded by joyous residents. Will he ruin the couple’s celebrations?
The clip then ended on a furious Max Branning (Jake Wood) standing in the middle of the square with rain pouring down on him.
Alongside the short video on the EastEnders Twitter page, it said: “As Max’s secrets start to unravel he desperately tries to claw himself out of an impossible situation…”
Is he about to wreak havoc on Albert Square? Who will be his victims?
The festive special episode will see things spiral out of control for Max after his darkest secrets are exposed.
And it appears there will be consequences for the residents in Walford as Jake Wood, who plays the conniving villain, admitted there could be some bloodshed.
In an interview with Radio Times, the actor said: “Max is consumed by revenge. He wants to kill Ian and Phil and everyone who’s wronged him.”
Revealing more details about the highly-anticipated episode, Jacqueline Jossa, who plays Lauren Branning, said it will be an unprecedented disaster for the family.
“It doesn’t disappoint. In fact, it’s catastrophic, the worst one yet,” the actress admitted.
The Branning family have had their fair share of drama over the years and this Christmas marks ten years since the explosive scenes in 2007 which revealed Max’s affair with then daughter-in-law, Stacey Fowler (Lacey Turner).
